Frequently Asked Questions
Can I disable live photo?
Yes, you can disable live photo by clicking the "Live Photo" button in the controls. When set to "Off" workspace will only capture a still photo – no live photo of you will be available to your team.
Can I create a private room?
workspace does not currently support private rooms. Rooms are created by URLs and no user registration is required. If you are interested in private rooms, feel free to reach out to me.
How come workspace only supports Chrome?
Unfortunately Chrome is the only browser supporting the technology that workspace utilizes to access the webcam when the tab is not in focus – this sucks, but there is no hack around it for other browsers.
When are images and videos deleted?
Images and videos are deleted whenever new ones are captured. When a user ends their session, their images and videos are likewise deleted. For good measure workspace even runs frequent cron jobs to make sure that nothing gets left behind.
What do you mean by ”low bandwidth”?
Photos and videos are captured in the compressed webp and webm formats. Photos are usually between 10-20kb and videos 100-150kb with hard limits of 50kb and 500kb respectively.
Can I use workspace to make a video call?
No. Unlike similar software workspace solely focus on low frequency / low fidelity passive communication and does therefore not offer any conference or video call functionality.
